What are the minimum requirements for becoming a travel nurse?
On Assignment professionals must successfully complete an accredited professional program in the United States and have recently fulfilled at least one year of continuous experience in their specialty area. Professionals must also be able to provide a valid license or certification and proof of United States citizenship. How do I become a traveler with On Assignment?
The process begins when you complete an application. A member of our recruitment team will then contact you to discuss your specific skills, travel goals and time frames.

Are there any obligations or commitments upon submitting
the application?

Until you formally accept a travel assignment there is no obligation. You are free to explore all the possibilities. Upon accepting an assignment, your commitment is only for the mutually agreed on length of that particular assignment.

Are there ever any fees for On Assignment's services?
We never charge travelers fees for our services.

How long will it take to find an assignment once I have applied?
You control the timing. Your first assignment could begin in as little as a few days, or you may prefer more lead time with a start date in 6-8 weeks or longer. It all depends on your plans and how quickly you want to move ahead.

What types of assignments are available?
Assignments are available in a range of facility types and geographic regions. You may want to consider a prestigious teaching facility in a large urban area or a small rural community hospital. Whatever options you prefer, your Active Recruitment Team at On Assignment will work to secure the right assignment.

How do I choose assignments?
After you apply with On Assignment, you are assigned to one of our Active Recruitment Teams, led by your personal recruiter. How long are travel assignments?
Assignments can range from 2 to 26 weeks in length. The choice is yours.

Will you have the assignment I want?
On Assignment maintains a vast network of relationships and contacts throughout the nation, enabling us to match our nurses with the jobs they prefer. If the assignment is not immediately available in our database, our Active Recruitment Team instantly goes to work securing the assignment you want.

What about state licensing requirements?
Your recruiter and the licensing department of On Assignment will assist you with licensure in any state you have chosen.

Is local travel an option?
On Assignment has nurses working at facilities right in their own area, earning national traveler wages while living at home!

What happens after I select an assignment?
Your professional profile will be immediately sent to the facility and a telephone interview will be arranged with a nurse manager from the hospital. We will make certain you have all the information you need about the position, facility, and area to assure a successful interview and satisfactory placement.

When should I begin preparations for an assignment?
Assignment start dates can be as soon as one week or scheduled as far in advance as several months. Your recruiter will work to ensure that you are fully prepared prior to your departure. When does my travel commitment begin?
Your travel commitment begins after you have accepted the position and have signed the employment agreement sent to you by On Assignment. This agreement outlines all the terms of the assignment previously discussed with your recruiter.

On Assignment has select assignments that include air transportation and a free rental car. Can I travel with a friend?

What is the housing like?
Our dedicated in-house travel and housing team make sure you arrive to deluxe housing in close proximity to the facility. There is no need to pack necessities, such as housewares and linens. All accommodations for On Assignment travelers are both attractive and fully equipped. We want you to concentrate on exploring the area and feeling comfortable in your new surroundings.

What happens if I don't use the company-provided housing?
You always have the option to arrange your own housing. On Assignment will pay a generous housing allowance for your efforts.
